§ 5.04. Canvassing

The return of every municipal election shall be delivered forthwith by the election judge to the mayor and one (1) copy to the city secretary. As soon as practicable after a regular or special election, either at a special meeting of the council or at the next regular meeting, the council shall canvass the returns and declare the results of such election. Returns of each municipal election shall be recorded in the minutes of the council. The candidates who receive the most legal votes cast for each place shall be declared the winner.
