§ 5.01. General Election

  • The general city election shall be held annually on a date prescribed by the applicable laws of the State of Texas in effect as of January 1 of the year of the election at which time officers will be elected to fill those offices of council, including mayor, which become vacant that year. The council shall adopt an ordinance or resolution for the conduct of the election. Each candidate for city council shall file for one (1) of six (6) council places or mayor and shall be elected by obtaining the most votes cast for that particular place.
