  • The mayor shall be the official head of the city government and shall preside at all meetings of the council. The mayor, as a member of the council, is required to cast a vote in case of a tie vote by the council, and that vote is obligatory. Subsequent to a vote on any matter by the council, the mayor may veto the council's action on such matter. Any matter so vetoed shall be included in the agenda for reconsideration by the council at the next regular or special meeting of the council. The mayor shall not have the authority to veto any action of the council on such reconsidered matter. The mayor shall see that all ordinances, bylaws, and resolutions of the council are faithfully obeyed and enforced; shall, when authorized by the council, sign all official documents such as ordinances, resolutions, conveyances, agreements, official plats, contracts, and bonds; shall appoint special committees as the mayor deems advisable as instructed by the council. The mayor shall perform such other duties consistent with this charter or as may be imposed by the council.
