§ 8.804. Designation of Acting Chief

In case of the disability of the chief of police, by reason of sickness, absence from the city, or other cause, the chief shall recommend in writing to the city manager one (1) of his subordinates to temporarily act in his stead. Failing that, the city manager shall designate an acting chief of police during such disability, and the officer so designated shall serve without additional compensation.
