Article 11.1200. BROKEN LINES; DEFECTIVE PLUMBING

In the case of discovery of broken line or defective plumbing resulting in water loss, the owner/occupant shall notify the city in a timely manner and request a utility service crew member to verify the occurrence and read the meter. Upon verification, the city will adjust the water consumption for sewer credit only. The adjustment for sewer will reflect as accurately as possible an estimate that coincides with the previous usage patterns and existing use situations. Water charges cannot be waived or adjusted in that those costs must be recovered by the city to offset the expenses of providing the water, even though it was lost or wasted. It shall be the property owner/occupant's responsibility to monitor their plumbing components, especially during winter months or extremely dry summers during periods of ground separation.
